After going through the entire ES1102 syllabus, I find myself better equipped with communicating through writing. I was more aware of the potential pitfall when it comes to grammar and sentence structure. Despite my initial resistance to this module, I can say that I have benefited much from it.

Firstly, the last time I wrote an essay was four years ago, even though I had the opportunity to write reports during my polytechnic years. Writing essays, in my opinion, was pure torture for me. My weaknesses in the past was trying to hit the word count and putting my thoughts into words.

ES1102 course students and tutor need to review each others essay or assignment drafts. Helpful; 1.It can define the mistakes that we make in our writing which we didnt know as a writer hence we can improve base on the mistake and learn.

After attending ES1102, I learnt that academic writing is more formal, objective and impersonal as compared to writing a report. I am now more conscious of my sentence structures and grammar usage too. I will certainly remember what I have learnt in class and apply it into my future writing assignments.

Having neglected English language for three whole years due to the nature of my diploma, I knew I would need ES1102 to brush off that layer of rust and mould on my English language. Little by little, the slab of mould is slowly clearing up through working on online grammar exercises, summary, reader response, and essay.

It was very difficult for me to put in 100% of my effort into writing, On top of that, works start to pile up during the middle of the semester with multiple assignments from each modules, naturally, i prioritised ES1102 the least. Being a Communication and New Media (CNM) major, I am taking a media writing module concurrently with ES1102.
